Take a Look Inside the New Seattle Center Arena

The first renderings for the new Seattle Center Arena—slated to open by the summer of 2021—have just been released. The nearly $1 billion—yes billion—will create a world-class venue for hockey, basketball, and music. With private lounges and bars to striking views of our city, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at this state-of-the-art arena. You have to admit, the renderings look pretty sweet.

They did NOT come up short on amenities for the arena. The new space will include:

  • Nineteen tunnel club suites. They’ll be located on the event level with three-six row seats and feature views of the tunnel where players take the ice.

  • The area will have 40 sideline suites that are cantilevered over the seating bowl.

  • The Metropolitan Club – the only all-inclusive private restaurant in the arena. A four-person table in the restaurant comes with an opera box of four seats.

  • Seattle craft breweries at the Symetra Club and the WaFd Bank Club, which are located at opposite sides of the arena.

  • The Mount Baker Hall – a general seating space including a local culinary experience.

  • The Space Needle Club is also a general seating space and will be available for private hire on non-game nights and include striking views of the Space Needle.

“This is about reinventing the fan experience in the entire sports and entertainment industry,” said Tim Leiweke, CEO of Oak View Group. “Rockwell Group brings a lifestyle approach and vision and they understand how to create unique moments in hospitality.”

He added, “We want to build an arena with the greatest environment possible for fans, athletes and artists, and are fortunate to have an ownership group who encourage us to make bold decisions to achieve this.”

KeyArena occupied 400,000 square feet and the new facility will be twice as large with 800,000 square feet. Crews have already dug down to ice level and have about 50,000 cubic feet of dirt to remove as part of the project to raise the arena.

Major highlights of the new training facility center include:

  • Three NHL regulation ice rinks with spectator viewing locations and seating for 1,000 fans in the main rink and 400 in each of the two other rinks.

  • An NHL training facility that includes state-of-the-art locker rooms and strength and conditioning areas to recruit and retain top talent.

  • Offices for NHL Seattle hockey operations and administrative staff.
