Transform your Temporary Workspace into a Permanent Home Office

The once temporary work from home life is becoming a permanent option for many employees as working from home has proven to have many benefits, including a better work-life balance. While there are still challenges that come with working from home, a well-designed office will make it easier. If you’re looking to upgrade your temporary workspace into a permanent home office, here are my tips.

Just like buying a house, location is one of the most important aspects of your at-home workspace. When choosing the perfect location, look for a spot that has good lighting. If possible, opt for a room or area that has a good source of natural light. Natural light has been known to help people feel more active and energized! In addition, if you can use natural light over artificial lights, you will cut down on your energy use!

Selecting a spot that is away from distractions will help you stay productive when working. It is easy for a quick rest between tasks to be prolonged if there are distractions present. Therefore, choose a spot that is quiet and away from other family members if possible.

It is important if you will be using this space daily that it is large enough to accommodate your needs. Find a location with room for a comfortable chair and storage that you may need to do your job efficiently. Nothing will make work harder than being uncomfortable for hours at a time.

The last detail is adding a personal touch and decorating the space to make it feel like you. Complete the design by choosing a piece that motivates you, such as a picture of your dream vacation location or favorite family photo.

If your current home does not accommodate your new lifestyle, a move may be the best solution. Without a location requirement for work, you may find your dream home is in a neighborhood you’d never considered before. Want to hear more about your housing options and the current market?
